Mission Statement To empower students in urban communities using soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning. With teamwork as the unifying value, America SCORES St. Louis inspires youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become agents of change in their communities. |
Volunteer Opportunities We have many flexible and rewarding volunteer opportunities, including:
- Mentor poet-athletes in grades 3-5 as an Assistant Writing or Soccer Coach
- Be a Guest Speaker or Guest Poet
- Referee team soccer games on Friday afternoons
- Help set-up and line soccer fields for game days
- Sponsor a SCORES game by bringing snack and cheering our teams on!
- Conduct one-time or on-going soccer clinics for SCORES Coaches and poet-athletes
- Donate your time & skills – volunteer in our Central West End office
- Organize an equipment drive for a team or school
- Lend a hand putting our community service projects into action!
- Invite a SCORES staff member to your event to spread the SCORES message
- Share your talent – whatever it may be, we can use it!
Fall season runs September 14 - November 17, 2009
Spring Season dates T.B.A. (approx: March - May 2010)
Typical volunteer hours are Monday - Thursday 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., or Friday 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Pre-Requisites Enthusiasm and interest in working with elementary school students. Background check required for ongoing volunteers. Experience in soccer, poetry and service-learning is a plus, but not necessary. |
| Group Projects & Internships |
Group projects offered? Yes. 10-15 students. Groups can adopt a school and help on soccer game days each Friday by setting up goals, refereeing games, handing out refreshments, passing out/collecting uniforms. Large groups can also volunteer at special events:
