Mission Statement	To empower students in urban communities using soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning. With teamwork as the unifying value, America SCORES St. Louis inspires youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become agents of change in their communities.

Volunteer Opportunities	We have many flexible and rewarding volunteer opportunities, including: <br>- Mentor poet-athletes in grades 3-5 as an Assistant Writing or Soccer Coach <br>- Be a Guest Speaker or Guest Poet <br>- Referee team soccer games on Friday afternoons <br>- Help set-up and line soccer fields for game days <br>- Sponsor a SCORES game by bringing snack and cheering our teams on! <br>- Conduct one-time or on-going soccer clinics for SCORES Coaches and poet-athletes <br>- Donate your time & skills – volunteer in our Central West End office <br>- Organize an equipment drive for a team or school <br>- Lend a hand putting our community service projects into action! <br>- Invite a SCORES staff member to your event to spread the SCORES message <br>- Share your talent – whatever it may be, we can use it! <br><br> Fall season runs September 14 - November 17, 2009 <br>Spring Season dates T.B.A. (approx: March - May 2010) <br><br> Typical volunteer hours are Monday - Thursday 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., or Friday 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. <br><br> School sites T.B.A.
Prerequisites	Enthusiasm and interest in working with elementary school students. Background check required for ongoing volunteers. Experience in soccer, poetry and service-learning is a plus, but not necessary.
Does your organization offer group projects?	Yes No If yes, please enter additional information about doing group projects: 10-15 students. Groups can adopt a school and help on soccer game days each Friday by setting up goals, refereeing games, handing out refreshments, passing out/collecting uniforms. Large groups can also volunteer at special events: <br>Fall Frenzy - October 1st, 2009 <br>Poetry Slam - November 17th, 2009 <br><br> Special events dates for the spring season T.B.A. (March - May 2010)
