Service First 2009 Volunteer Options

  • Summer Work Days: Four dates in June and July when volunteers move, organize, and pack supplies for our 12 schools. Most work requires lifting boxes. We request that volunteers make a 3-4 hour commitment, but we welcome any time that you can give!
    • Wednesday, June 3 (9am-noon)
    • Friday, June 5 (1-4pm)
    • Thursday, July 9 (1-4pm)
    • Friday, July 24 (1-4pm)
  • Supply Day: One day in the fall when we load cars with packed supplies for schools, and move other supplies to storage. All work requires lifting and carrying boxes. Sign up for one hour or more as your schedule allows!
    • Thursday, September 3 (10-3pm)
  • On-Campus Volunteer during Service First: Assist with bus boarding or the Community Service Fair and supply unloading.
    • Saturday, September 5 (11am-2pm)
    • Saturday, September 5 (3:30-7:30pm) Many roles require lifting and carrying boxes
  • Project Manager: On the day of Service First, you'll be assigned to one of our 12 schools along with 7-10 other Project Managers to assist the School Coordinator (a WU staff or faculty) in leading the day, overseeing projects, and supporting about 100 new student volunteers. Please note that this is during Labor Day Weekend. Also note that if you are an RA or WUSA, you will already have Service First responsibilities with your floor or assisting on campus, so you will not be able to also serve as a Project Manager.
    • Saturday, September 5 (10am-6pm; start time varies slightly by school)
