Night Off Created: 04/25/06 Last Modified: 03/30/07 | | Group Information | Group Web http://artsci.wustl.edu | Group Email nightoff@artsci.wustl.edu | Affiliations Student Union Recognized | Membership Undergraduate, Graduate/Professional | Group Description The Night Off Program is a student-run program that provides parents of autistic children a "night off." It is extremely hard for these parents to find babysitters, and, because of the costs associated with the treatment of autism, babysitters are often too expensive. Caring for an autistic child full-time can be extremely demanding, and we would like to give these parents the break that they deserve.
We are looking for students who would be willing to give up one night a month to babysit for an autistic child and possibly siblings for free. We are especially in need of students who have experience with autism. But all students are welcome to help! If you do not have experience with autistic children, you will be paired up with someone who does. Also, since the babysitting takes place in the families' homes, it is preferable if you have access to a car.
If you are interested, contact Tiffany Chung at nightoff@artsci.wustl.edu. There will be an info session at the beginning of the semester. | Special Events April is Autism Awareness Month!
